The Specialist...

So...I had my specialists appointment today. It went ok...except for the fact that they shoved a camera up my nose... That was interesting... So...they sprayed a freezing agent up my nose that tasted bitter and vile and made me want to gag. Then they stuck a camera up my nose to see the back of my throat and tongue...not sure why...but it had to do with my pending operation. So...it is official. I do need surgery again...they haven't given me a date yet, but he did explain why it came back and what they are going to do this time. (Luckily I will be put out for it this time...) The are going to go in and take out the old scar, the whole cyst and part of the bone behind my Adams apple and in front of my vocal chords. That is why it came back to begin with, because the last doctor only removed the cyst, not the surrounding tissue problems... They are going to fix my scar so it doesn't look like a rail road, which it kind of does now...it's not noticeable unless I put my head back, but he is going to make it invisible... So depending on how deep it is and if he has to take some bone depends on whether I have to spend the night in the hospital or not... I have never spent a night in a hospital, or been totally put under before...so I am a little nervous. I have attached a picture to help explain things...

I hope that helps... I also hope they don't book my surgery in August...before or after...but nothing will keep me from Carries wedding...well besides death...

Awww, surgery. Dude, that sucks. They're taking out part of the bone? Will it affect your voice at all, that bone missing near your vocal cords? Icky. Bone shaving. That sounds disgusting. *shudder*

Don't be too worried about being put under. It really didn't bother me all that much. It just felt like going to sleep, and I wasn't disoriented or anything. The only thing is I puked on the way home in the car. I'm pretty sure it was just that combined with my usual motion sickness. Just make sure that you don't drink or eat anything like they tell you. Just because the sphyncters in between your stomach and your throat relax, so if there's any liquid in your stomach, it could leak out and you can drown on it. Okay, that wasn't really reassuring, but just so long as you do it, you'll be all good.

I am not sure if it will affect my voice...I know it will be painful to talk...and swallow, for the first little bit... Hizza for popcicles...

Yeah...I don't want to drown in my own fluids...or pee myself on the table...so I will not be drinking or eating anything...

Mel! Just remember my surgery that I went for! Atleast you don't have a large gas bubble in your tummy! But you will be fine and I will take you to marble slab or something like that.

What is marble slab? Is that some weird way of saying the morgue? Are you trying to kill me? (lol..j/k)

Good luck with your surgery. The unknown can always be a bit scary. Though it is nothing close, I had my tonsils out as a kid, and they put me out. I had a bit of a sore throat after, and all the popsicles and ice cream I could eat after the surgery.
